1. Gather 4 candles: blue, red, yellow, and brown or green. Place these at western, southern, eastern, and northern points in the space, respectively. A white, or home-made cande can be put in the center to represent spirit.
2. Settle into the central part of your work space. Breathe deeply and center your spirit, focusing your mind on your goals for this day.
3. Light one matrch and walk to the eastern candle. Put the flame to the wick saying:
Guardians and watchtowers of the east, I call and charge you. Come protect this sacred space and breather on me with the winds of inspiration and learning.
4. Move clockwise to the southern candle. As you go, visualize a line of white light connecting the two points together. Put the flame to the wick saying:
Guardians and watchtowers of the south, I call and charge you. Come protect this sacred space and ignite in me the spark of magic
5. Continue moving clockwise to the western candle. Visualize the line of energy/power connected to both the couthern and the eartern canfle by radiant light. Put the flame to the wick saying:
Guardians and watchtowers of the west, I call and charge you. Come protect this sacred space and wash over me with waves of insight and discernment.
6.Continue on to the northern candle, extending your visualization, put the flame to the wich saying:
Guardians and watchtowers of the north, I call and charge you. Come protect this sacred space and grant me strong foundations from which to grow.
7. Finally, move to the center saying:
Great spirits, guides, and ancient ones, I welcome you to this time of creation and study. Help me in my tasks this say - fill the pages in my book of shadows with your wisdom and blessing. So be it.
Light the central canfle and visualize the outlines of your circle now slowly expanding to create a complete sphere of protection all around, above and below you.
When you are done, you should thank the powers who have protected and guided you in some manner, and then bid them farewell. You can do this by saying:
God, Goddess, Guides, Ancestors, Powers of creation - thank you for joining me here today and blessing the work of my hands. As you leave this place, carry the positive energy created to any in need. Walk with me daily that I might follow the path of beauty in confidence and peace. Farewell.
A prayer like this accomplishes much. It gives thanks, it seeks to bless others, and it acknowledges that magical living isn't limited to a few hours here and there, but it aprt of every moment of every day.
